While I don't typically take on 3d work, it's important to have a good foundation in 3d in motion graphics. I occasionally tap into Cinema 4d for design. I took a few months to learn X-particles. While I don't consider myself an X-Particles artist, it was fun digging into all of the options available and creating some designs outside of Photoshop and After Effects.
